Since 1980, Technicon Acoustics has been, and continues to be, a leading manufacturer of quality laminate and composite materials. Our core manufacturing competency lies in the ability to adhere dissimilar materials together to provide a unique value added solution for all of our customers’ needs. Technicon’s manufacturing capabilities include flame lamination, thermal lamination, PVC compound casting, and complete fabrication capabilities.

Flame lamination consists of passing a material, which will melt in the presence of a flame, through a high intensity gas fired burner. Then a facing and/or backing material is immediately applied to the molten surface through a series of nip rollers. The molten surface acts as its own adhesive providing essentially a 100% surface bond even on porous materials. The bond created by flame lamination often exceeds the tear strength of the materials being laminated. Line speeds can exceed 100 linear feet per minute making flame lamination an exceptionally cost effective solution.

Thermal lamination consists of passing dissimilar substrates through a series of heated rollers and bonding the materials together by melting one component into the other or bonding the two materials together with a heat activated adhesive. This process allows Technicon to laminate many materials that are not conducive to flame lamination due to their physical properties.

Technicon’s proprietary PVC compound casting line gives us the ability to make many unique composite materials. The thermo set PVC compound maintains a high degree of flexibility and has a very high specific gravity. Making this process ideal for fusing noise control barriers, industrial floor mats, and other underlayment and composite materials.

Technicon maintains a full line of fabrication equipment, Including multiple CNC cutting machines and die presses. This allows us to make finished components directly from your CAD drawings, prints, or templates and produce one-piece orders or several thousand piece orders quickly and easily.
